Clerk III - UI Health Care Clinics Referral Specialist 50%-70%
Position Responsibilities
Respond efficiently, accurately, and professionally to requests
Daily management of the referral process and referrals on the assigned referral WQ
Maintains and updates status of all referrals to ensure timely review and action
Gathers referral form/notes/imaging and other records needed for triage
Communicates with clinic to ensure timely turnaround for triage requests
Schedules, cancels, and reschedules patient appointments through negotiations and referred to clinic
Collaborates with clinic staff to optimize identified issues and bottlenecks with workflows
Serves as an intermediary between patients, nursing personnel, front line staff, providers, and stakeholders concerning scheduling concerns and medical needs

Percent of Time
50% - 70% (20 - 28 hours a week)
Schedule
Variable hours between 7:00am-5:00pm: M-F. No weekend, no holidays, no on call.
Location
Northgate Urology Clinic; Iowa City, IA (and surrounding clinics based on clinical need/hours)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.
Special Qualifications
Public Contact/Customer Service experience.
Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
Desired Requirements
Experience with EPIC
Medical Terminology
Customer service experience in a healthcare setting
Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication
Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing referrals to external agencies to ensure client needs are met effectively.
Experience working referrals in EPIC
Experience with hospital operations and/or Ambulatory Clinic operations.
