About Miami Correctional Facility
Miami Correctional Facility is a level-four high-medium-security facility located in Bunker Hill, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 3,100 incarcerated adult males. It includes a level-one facility with capacity for more than 200 incarcerated adult males. The facility offers extensive educational and vocational programming, including a Braille translation program and a sewing shop serving community partners.
Role Overview
As a Clerical Assistant at the Miami Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with the facility packet room, record keeping, electronic filing, document archiving, and classification notifications. The position requires prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, working closely with other support staff, and being an integral member of a successful and efficient team.
Salary Statement
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $27,638.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Eligible non-custody staff who complete required training and certification to perform federal detention duties will receive a $20 non-discretionary bonus for each shift that they are assigned those duties.
A Day In The Life
- Supports the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks
- Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate person according to their needs
- Answers telephones and gives information to callers, takes messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals
- Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail
- Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers
- Accurately maintains and organizes office files
- Delivers messages and run errands
- Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes supplies
- Completes tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner

Qualifications
For this role, individuals should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Skills
While a degree is not required, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
