Duties

As a Clerical Assistant, you will perform standard and non-standard assignments involving different and unrelated processes in support of departmental goals, utilizing systems and processes associated with non-receipt claims. Input data to appropriate database or electronic application. Maintain databases and other applications as instructed by supervisor/lead. Provide miscellaneous office support such as answering and making calls, maintaining office files, routing mail by address or subject matter, conducting and copying materials for recurring and special purposes, operating standard office equipment, and preparing daily reports.

Examine documents for completeness, discrepancies, sampling requirements, and other special requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

  • For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
    • Utilizing computer systems to enter data entry of specialized records and prepare reports;
    • Maintain inventory and destruction of secured instruments and documents in compliance with retention guidelines;
    • Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
  • You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
    • Four (4) years of education above the high school level.
    • (Please attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.)
    • You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
    • Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
