About the role

The Teacher position at Natchaug Hospital Clinical Day Treatment Schools is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students who require additional support due to social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Instruction: Responsible for teaching 6-8 students in a Clinical Day Treatment environment, focusing on academic and clinical goals.
• Coordination: Works closely with the sending school district to align academic expectations and serves as a liaison between the home school and clinical staff.
• Teamwork: Participates in interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Current certification from the CT State Department of Education.
• Pending or current special education certification required.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings (public or private).
• Experience working with children and/or adolescents with behavioral and emotional needs preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of education procedures for working with/emotional disturbed students, a plus.
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, child and adolescent growth and development, and student learning styles, a plus.

• Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive school culture.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
