Classroom Teacher - Behavioral Health Education

About the role

The Teacher at Natchaug Hospital Clinical Day Treatment Schools is responsible for classroom instruction for 6-8 students in a Clinical Day Treatment environment. These small classes and focused teams aim to achieve successful student outcomes and provide a healthy work-life balance for staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate academic expectations with the sending school district.
• Serve as the liaison between the home school and clinical staff.
• Design individual academic and clinical treatment plans for students based on their special needs.
• Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support students' academic, clinical, and transitional needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree + 30 credits or MA required.
• Current certification from the CT State Department of Education.
• Current or pending special education certification required.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting (public or private).
• Experience working with children and/or adolescents with behavioral and emotional needs preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of education procedures for working with/teaching emotionally disturbed students, a plus.
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, child and adolescent growth and development, and student learning styles, a plus.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in educational technology tools.
