Classroom Assistant, Per Diem - ALSP

About the role

Provide direct support for participants taking recreational classes through the Alyssa Burnett Adult Life Skills Center. Participants are 18 and older and may have Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, including Autism.

Responsibilities

• Manage participants before and after classes
• Support adult participants in small groups or individually with tasks and classes
• Help prepare and clean classrooms
• Collaborate with staff including Operations Lead, Program Manager, Instructors, and other Classroom Assistants
• Oversight of participants in classes and community-based outings, adhering to staffing ratios
• Develop rapport with participants and engage them in tasks and classes

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting
• Experience working with multi-system involved adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental disabilities
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Sociology preferred
• WA State Drivers License required

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and resources available
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

Pay

$21.64 - $32.45 per hour
