About the Role
Substitute classified is an on-call as needed position. Substitutes may work in a variety of different positions depending on their work experience.
Pay
- Bus Monitor: $17.15 per hour
- Campus Security Assistant: $22.38 per hour (SB1626 and guard card required upon hire)
- Clerical: $17.26 per hour (5-minute 45 wpm net speed typing certificate required)
- Custodian: $19.36 per hour
- Kitchen Worker: $16.90 per hour
- Safety Supervisor: $16.90 per hour
- Instructional Support: $18.86 per hour
- Mechanic: $23.20 per hour (Prior experience required. Must pass a mechanic's test)
Pay range: $16.90 - $23.20 per hour.
Schedule
On-call as needed.
Requirements
- Physical requirement upon hire: Ability to frequently lift 50 lbs., as well as frequent bending and reaching.
- TB clearance (required upon hire).
Qualifications

- Current Resume
- 2 professional letters of recommendation dated within the past 12 months (must be from a former or current supervisor).
All application fields must be filled out completely. Blank or incomplete applications will not be accepted. If your work/volunteer experience does not match any of the positions available to substitute, your application will not be considered.
Applications will be reviewed on an as-needed basis. Selected candidates will be contacted to move forward to get fingerprinted for DOJ and FBI. Once candidates clear TB and fingerprints, they will be invited to attend a mandatory orientation.

The Job Fair will be held on September 23, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Coachella Valley Unified School District Office, 87-225 Church Street, Thermal, CA 92274. The date is subject to change.
