Classical Hematologist
Overview
The Division of Hematology & Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital & Henry Ford Cancer Institute (HFCI) is recruiting a full-time, board-eligible/certified Classical Hematologist. The position is within a busy, well-established hospital-based, academic practice with an established fellowship program.
About the Role
The Classical Hematologist will pursue a career in classical hematology and will have completed a 3-year fellowship in hematology & oncology or a 2-year dedicated fellowship in hematology. They will provide both outpatient and inpatient care, teach medical students, residents, and fellows, and participate in clinical trials and research activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide both outpatient and inpatient care in classical hematology, including hemostasis and thrombosis, sickle cell disease and thalassemia, iron disorders, and rare diseases.
- Collaborate with other institutions and entities for comprehensive care, research, and education for patients with sickle cell disease.
- Teach medical students from Wayne State University Medical School and Michigan State University School of Medicine, as well as residents and fellows.
- Participate in clinical trials and research activities, including Phase 1-4 trials, with ongoing collaborations across different departments and institutions.
- Contribute to the Section of Hematology, which is part of the Division of Hematology/Oncology and offers opportunities for visiting fellows, residents, and medical students for specific rotations.
Requirements
- Must be board certified in Internal Medicine.
- Must have completed an ACGME/AOA approved Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program or 2-year dedicated fellowship in hematology.

Skills
Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Proficiency in hematology and oncology is required, along with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
