Starting pay: $29.92/hour. After 90 days, pay increases to $30.42/hour.
About the role
The Route Driver will be responsible for picking up dead hogs, cattle, and meat scraps from farm sites on a daily route and returning to Blue Earth, MN.
Schedule
- Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
- Wednesday: Clean-up day or other tasks
- Flexible start time: 6:00 AM
- Work hours per day: 10–11 hours
Responsibilities
- Handle outside elements year-round
- Collect and inspect products at pickup for foreign material
- Maintain an Electronic DOT log
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Company, federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; follow company policy, procedures, and safety rules
- Maintain excellent customer relations by providing quality, professional service
- Complete all company-required paperwork daily
- Attend all safety meetings; may serve on Safety Committee
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age
- Valid Class B driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Class A driver’s license
- Prior route experience in a customer-oriented environment
- Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers
- Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers)
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch
- Occasionally lifts up to 75 lbs
- Occasionally loads deadstock and/or bins with assistance from a winch on the vehicle
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms
Work Environment
Job functions are carried out in a commercial motor vehicle, at customer locations, and in a plant environment.
