About the role
The Class A CDL Utility Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering materials on designated local, regional, and interstate routes while providing operational support across multiple locations and service lines. This position serves as a versatile member of the transportation team, filling in on various routes as needed to support business operations, customer service commitments, and driver coverage requirements. The Utility Driver will operate a variety of commercial vehicles and equipment, perform route collections and deliveries, maintain compliance with all DOT regulations, and ensure exceptional service to customers. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a strong commitment to safe driving practices, operational excellence, and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
Responsibilities
- Ability to work flexible hours based on seasonality and operational needs.
- Travel throughout assigned regions, pulling a heavy-duty pickup truck with a utility trailer to transport damaged bins to designated repair facilities or scrap yards.
- Assist in company rollouts as needed to deliver new bins to client locations.
- Move equipment to multiple locations as needed.
- Operate manual or electric pallet jack.
- Utilize a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers and leave all client locations clean and free of debris.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
- Previous experience operating tractor-trailer combinations preferred.
- Experience with open-top dump trailers, roll-off, waste hauling, or similar equipment preferred.
- Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules and assignments.
Working Conditions
- Frequent entering and exiting of commercial vehicles throughout the workday.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, outdoor environments, and customer locations.
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight travel when required.
- Ability to work up to 60 hours in a 7-day period or 70 hours in an 8-day period, in accordance with DOT regulations.
Pay
$26-30 hourly wage
