About the role

The Clamp Truck Operator is responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the clamp truck. Duties include taking rolls of paper to the corrugator, unloading rolls from trailers and rail cars, checking for and noting any physical damage, scanning rolls, operating the clamp truck, completing inspections, and assisting the corrugator operator.

Responsibilities

  • Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking buttrolls first, and record all rolls taken on the proper forms.
  • Learn to read corrugator lineups and mark buttrolls as to size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
  • Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars, check for and note any physical damage to the rolls, and scan rolls to location.
  • Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner, complete clamp truck inspection reports, and turn in maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
  • Keep the warehouse organized and clean, turn in roll stock tallies, and maximize equipment utilization.
  • Adhere to the daily production schedule, make recommendations for optimizing the schedule, and assist the corrugator operator as instructed.
  • Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED. Must have a current Lift Truck/Clamp Truck Operator License (training and licensing will be provided).

Qualifications

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
