Claims Unit Manager - Auto Liability

This is an onsite position in Coppell, TX.

About the role

This management leadership position is responsible for managing four to ten Claims Teams or specialized functions within the Claims business unit. Key responsibilities include effective loss and expense management, employee development and succession planning, training, staffing, performance measurements, and continuous improvement. The role also facilitates unit-level strategies to support claims initiatives and ensures compliance with regulatory, statutory, and company best practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all claims within the unit meet or exceed quality and regulatory requirements. Regularly review claim files for quality and monitor audit results, performance reports, and customer survey data. Implement corrective actions for deficiencies.
• Recruit and develop talent to achieve operational goals. Oversee and participate in employee recruitment to ensure appropriate staffing.
• Identify and implement staff development and training to support succession planning. Provide coaching, performance counseling, and opportunities for professional growth.
• Delegate authority appropriately and ensure decisions align with corporate and Claims Division goals. Capitalize on employee capabilities.
• Communicate corporate, unit, and team goals with direct reports. Monitor and reinforce behaviors that support technical and customer service performance.
• Seek innovative approaches to address organizational issues and ensure effective communication with internal and external customers.
• Prepare reports and statistical data on performance, cost, staffing, and resource allocation. Attend intra- and inter-departmental meetings to evaluate work products and administrative projects.
• Participate in committees and projects designed to enhance organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4–6 years of management/supervisory experience (7–9 years in claims handling and/or operations preferred).
• Advanced organizational, planning, oral, and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead change effectively.
• Valid Driver’s License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record, and minimum liability insurance (issued by state).
• Occasional travel (5%) for off-site business meetings or conferences.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $120,500.00 – $160,800.00. You will also be eligible to participate in an incentive program based on organizational, team, and personal performance.
