About the role
The Claims Specialist 2 position works in the claims department of a public entity risk pool, providing claims handling, management, oversight, direction, support, and administration. Work is performed following established office procedures and general directions.
Responsibilities
- Handle and manage claims in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Provide support and administrative assistance to the claims team.
- Analyze unique events and provide solutions to complex claims issues.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective claim resolution.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and insurance policies.
- Support the development and implementation of claims processes and procedures.
- Occasional overnight travel to meetings with WSTIP Members, WSTIP Staff or Board meetings, and/or for professional development.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience in claims handling or a similar field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a public entity risk pool or similar organization.
- Knowledge of insurance claims processing and handling.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
