Responsibilities
- Manage 3 to 6 Senior Claims Specialists across multiple state jurisdictions.
- Actively manage assigned Claims Specialists' workloads and performance.
- Evaluate team performance, identify and resolve problems, develop corrective action plans, and define team and individual goals.
- Provide guidance and training on functional claims problems to the office.
- Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act and Rules and Regulations in jurisdictions assigned.
- Consult with attorneys, assist in negotiation of settlements, mediations, and trials (attend trials as necessary).
- Keep the office informed about all legal changes in assigned jurisdictions.
- Ensure regulatory issues within the assigned region are in compliance.
- Attend and participate in training sessions for insureds, including insured visits and claim reviews.
- Identify unfavorable trends from employers and notify appropriate departments.
- Ensure team's work is in accordance with guidelines established.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of experience within workers compensation insurance.
- Prior experience: Three (3) or more years of claims supervisory experience preferred.
- Licenses: Possess and maintain a professional adjusting license in jurisdictions assigned.
- Skills: Exemplary oral and written communications, analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and highly defined leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivation: Require minimal management direction.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with underwriting, loss control, business development, and marketing teams.
