Claims Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage 3 to 6 Senior Claims Specialists across multiple state jurisdictions.
• Actively manages assigned Claims Specialists workloads and performance.
• Evaluates team performance, identifies and resolves problems, develops corrective action plans and defines team and individual goals.
• Provides guidance and training on functional claims problems to the office.
• Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act and Rules and Regulations in jurisdictions assigned.
• Consults with attorneys, assists in negotiation of settlements, mediations, and trials (attends trials as necessary).
• Keeps the office abreast of all legal changes in assigned jurisdictions.
• Ensures regulatory issues within the assigned region are within compliance.
• Attends and participates in training sessions for insureds including insured visits and claim reviews.
• Identifies unfavorable trends from employers and notifies appropriate departments.
• Ensures team’s work is in accordance with guidelines established.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: At least five (5) years’ experience within workers compensation insurance.
• Prior experience: Three (3) or more years of claims supervisory experience preferred.
• Licenses: Professional adjusting license in jurisdictions assigned.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communications, analytical and creative problem-solving skills, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and minimal management direction required.
