About the role
This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for all aspects of the appraisal process for damage including, but not limited to, automobiles, trucks, motor homes, travel trailers, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. A company vehicle is provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical and virtual inspections of vehicle damage as part of the claim adjusting process; may handle inspections associated with highly complex claims with minimal oversight.
- Prepare written repair cost estimates, applying Company guidelines and State regulations and exercising independent judgment when warranted.
- Negotiate cost-effective repair figures according to Company guidelines and State regulations.
- Perform timely supplemental inspections of additional damage discovered during the course of repair.
- Demonstrate awareness of and identify fraud indicators.
- Apply knowledge of basic policy coverage.
- Complete field appraisals on an automated appraisal system at the time of inspection or estimate review.
- Determine actual cash values for total loss vehicles.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of related appraisal experience, preferably with an insurance carrier.
- Valid State driver’s license, clear MVR, and Appraisal License.
- Ability to perform work independently within specified limits and authority with minimal oversight.
- Willingness to adapt to new or different changing situations, requirements, or priorities.
- Flexibility with respect to work scheduling issues or changes that may arise unexpectedly due to business needs or demands.
- Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to deal with conflict and resolve issues promptly and fairly.
- Familiarity with CCC One or another auto estimating system, along with Windows proficiency, Excel, and Word.
