About the Role
The CJIS System Access Coordinator oversees and manages information system accounts, including establishing, activating, modifying, reviewing, disabling, and removing accounts. This role serves the NCIC Unit as the assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) and assists in all TAC responsibilities, ensuring compliance with DPS expectations and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Validate information system accounts at least annually and document the validation process.
- Develop and maintain a quality assurance program to ensure all persons with access to the law enforcement NCIC system are properly trained and certified as required by State and Federal requirements.
- Work with the APD Division TAC to oversee the security of all terminals and collaborate with the information technologies department to maintain security for computers, access devices, circuits, hubs, routers, firewalls, and other network components.
- Work closely with NCIC training supervisors to ensure ongoing training of operators and officers.
- Manage account types (individual, group, and system), establish conditions for group membership, and assign associated authorizations.
- Assist the TAC for all audits conducted by internal and external agencies.
- Organize and supervise the training and testing of NCIC certification biennially for sworn and civilian employees.
- Collaborate with personnel from various divisions within the department.
- Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
- Oversee validations of NCIC records, quality control, training and certification of operators, records maintenance, and terminal security.
- Set up new users in the NCIC system by submitting a User Authorizations form to DPS and ensure they complete an NCIC security awareness certification.
- Identify authorized users of the information system, specify access rights/privileges, and grant access based on established criteria.
- Attend and participate in appropriate professional organizations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college in business, public administration, or criminal justice.
- Three (3) years of Records Management experience.
- One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Currently hold or successfully complete the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Terminal Agency Coordinator test/training within six (6) months from date of hire.
Working Conditions
- Office work environment with exposure to computer screens in a 24/7 operation.
- Physical requirements include maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods, light lifting, and extensive use of a computer keyboard.
