Civil Structural Engineering Manager

ENERCON is seeking a Civil Structural Engineering Manager to join our team supporting nuclear design across the industry. This role focuses on leadership of technical civil/structural engineering teams, offering professional growth and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the energy sector.

About the role

The civil/structural design team provides support for projects across the Nuclear Services Group (NSG), including:

• Technical support for minor and major plant modifications
• Seismic component qualifications
• Piping and piping support design and analysis
• Equipment mounting and support design
• Conduit support design
• Floor loading analysis
• Heavy load/haul path evaluations
• Plant inspections and walkdowns

This position can be located in Kennesaw, GA.

Responsibilities

• Unit Leadership & Management: Serve as the focal point for unit contact to Directors, Project Managers (PMs), and other internal constituents. Direct and assign work to balance activities between work groups and individuals. Approve timesheets and expense reports. Conduct annual performance appraisals. Support management in recruiting new employees.
• Quality Control & Technical Oversight: Maintain responsibility for the unit’s quality; establish and enforce quality standards through Lead Engineers. Certify design documents as required by state, local, client, and code requirements. Demonstrate technical leadership by resolving technical issues through coordination with Subject Matter Experts.
• Project Management & Client Relations: Work with Project Managers to ensure the unit meets budget and schedule for assigned projects. Approve engineering documents produced by the unit. Lead proposal preparation with input for scope and budget to PMs. Develop professional relationships with client counterparts. Assist in marketing the unit’s expertise and abilities to clients.
• Staff Development & Performance: Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching. Promote professional development of staff, including professional licenses, certifications, training, mentoring, and client qualifications.
• Administrative Support: Support company policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining short- and long-range staffing plans based on work projections.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in design engineering in power generation, nuclear power, or heavy industrial, with preference for 2 of those years as a group lead
• Professional Engineering (PE) License
• Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards
• Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time; duration may vary depending on project needs (typically a few days)
• Ability to motivate teams and achieve goals through a positive attitude and effective leadership
• Proven experience with high-level decision-making, directing, and overseeing routine and advanced technical work performed by others
• Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant

Pay

Compensation range: USD $120,000.00 – USD $180,000.00 per year.
