Civil Helper (RAL J&J RM)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set forms
• Tie rebar
• Sprays concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using float to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
• Levels, smoothes, and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed.
• Finishes concrete surfaces, using power trowel, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
• Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
• Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• Produces rough concrete surface, using broom.
• Mixes cement, using hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
• Directs sub grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
• Follows set procedures and standards.
• Rates information using standards that can be measured or checked.
• Detects, recognizes, and responds to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Affords assistance with loading, unloading, and transporting material.
• Lifts and carries objects of varying weights.
• Affords regular attendance and significant travel as required.

Qualifications

• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Completes all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observes SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.

Work Environment Conditions

• Includes working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties.
• Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
