Civil Engineer – West Des Moines, Iowa

Responsibilities

• Municipal utility, drainage, roadway, site design, and other engineering support functions
• Cook up a storm with coordination among engineers and technicians on a variety of challenging engineering tasks in a collaborative team environment
• Take charge of project management duties, from building solid client relationships to securing contracts
• Draw up roadway construction documents, like typical/cross sections, erosion and sediment control plans, maintenance of traffic plans, stormwater management, drainage design, signing and pavement marking plans, and right-of-way plans
• Do other design-related tasks, such as quantity calculations, geometric calculations, roadway layout, grading plans, utility layouts, and subdivision layout
• Build 3D models using Bentley CONNECT or Civil 3D software
• Oversee CADD technicians to ensure accuracy and quality of work

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Iowa P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 10+ years of experience in municipal or transportation design
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors, and peers
• Excellent computer skills
• Experience with AutoCad Civil 3D and/or Bentley CONNECT
