Ardurra is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Public Works Infrastructure team in Metairie, LA. Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm providing innovative infrastructure solutions to public and private sector clients throughout the United States. We leverage technical expertise, integrated project delivery, and local market knowledge to deliver practical, sustainable solutions for public infrastructure, utilities, transportation, drainage, and community development projects. Our Metairie Public Works team partners with municipalities, local governments, utility providers, and public agencies to support infrastructure improvement and community development initiatives throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region. Our team delivers roadway, drainage, stormwater, water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure improvement projects focused on improving resiliency, mobility, and long-term public infrastructure performance.

Primary Function

The Public Works Engineer III will support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure and public works projects for local government and public agency clients. This role will contribute to roadway, drainage, stormwater, water distribution, wastewater collection, and utility infrastructure improvement projects while coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and public sector stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess experience with municipal infrastructure design, permitting, utility coordination, drainage analysis, and public works project delivery. Candidates with experience supporting Louisiana municipalities, DOTD projects, or local public agencies are strongly preferred.

Primary Duties

  • Support the planning, design, and preparation of construction documents for municipal public works projects.
  • Perform engineering design and analysis for roadway, drainage, stormwater, water distribution, wastewater collection, and utility infrastructure systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting project documentation.
  • Cookordination with municipalities, utility agencies, regulatory entities, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project delivery.
  • Assist with permitting efforts and coordination with applicable local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Support drainage and stormwater analyses associated with roadway and municipal infrastructure improvements.
  • Assist with utility coordination, conflict analysis, and infrastructure rehabilitation planning.
  • Support project scheduling, task management, and overall project delivery efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and support technical development within the team.

Technical Expertise

  • Experience with municipal infrastructure and public works engineering projects.
  • Understanding of roadway, drainage, stormwater, water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure systems.
  • Familiarity with public sector project delivery processes and municipal engineering standards.
  • Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Working knowledge of drainage analysis and stormwater management principles.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering design software.
  • Familiarity with permitting and utility coordination processes.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in municipal engineering, public works engineering, civil infrastructure, or related fields.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with roadway, drainage, utility, water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Experience working with Louisiana municipalities, public agencies, or DOTD projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and related engineering software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
