Position Summary
Tetra Tech is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects in our San Antonio office. The intern will assist with engineering design, drafting, technical calculations, report preparation, and field activities involving grading and drainage, stormwater systems, complete streets, active transportation facilities, and water and sewer infrastructure.
Essential Functions
- Assist engineers with civil infrastructure design projects.
- Support grading and drainage design using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Aid in stormwater management and erosion control design.
- Help prepare plans for water distribution and sanitary sewer systems.
- Perform engineering calculations under the guidance of senior staff.
- Prepare engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Support permitting documentation and project deliverables.
- Participate in field visits, site investigations, and data collection as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Maintain organized project documentation and follow established engineering standards.
- Work safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Junior or Senior standing preferred.
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles gained through coursework.
- Interest in municipal infrastructure, transportation, drainage, or water/wastewater projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
