About the role

Barr is seeking a civil engineer to join our Bismarck, North Dakota, team. This hybrid role involves supporting the Engineering and Design civil engineering group with engineering design and analysis for site layout, grading, drainage, and mass earthwork.

Responsibilities

  • Designing site development/improvement designs.
  • Reporting and presenting: providing written and oral technical guidance, preparing permit review summaries, and presenting findings to decision-making bodies.
  • Performing calculations, conducting data analysis, and compiling technical reports.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Software: Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PDF editing software.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience performing related work.
  • Computer skills: Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PDF editing software.
  • Interpersonal skills: Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and follow-up.
  • Technical skills: Ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • Driver’s license: Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in working with project teams and modifying schedules to meet project deadlines and/or client needs.
  • Technical expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
