About the role

DHI Engineering, the internal engineering division for D.R. Horton, is seeking a Civil Engineer E.I.T. with land development experience to join our growing team. In this role, you will support a variety of land development projects, assisting with grading, drainage, utility, and roadway design for single-family subdivisions and multi-family projects. Working under the direction of senior staff, you will contribute to design deliverables, permitting efforts, and project coordination while continuing to develop your technical and professional skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in feasibility studies for project acquisitions, including concept planning, zoning analysis, preliminary grading, and cost estimating
  • Facilitate the preparation of civil construction plans for multi-family and residential subdivisions for agency permitting and approvals
  • Assist the Project Manager with engineering design tasks, technical reports, and construction phase services, including site visits, submittal reviews, RFI coordination, and as-built reviews
  • Coordinate and execute engineering services for assigned projects to include engineering reports, design calculations for infrastructure and drainage systems, overall grading, and pavement design
  • Assist in the preparation of hydrology and stormwater management reports in support of design and permitting approvals
  • Prepare lot fit exhibits incorporating detailed house plans for single-family developments
  • Attend and contribute to project progress meetings, agency review meetings, and prepare responses to review comments for project approvals
  • Analyze, interpret, and stay abreast of the latest regulations and criteria for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
  • Implement innovative design concepts for efficiency and cost saving measures
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Maintain an understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve successful results and deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • Must be a registered and active E.I.T. in required state with ability to obtain P.E. License
  • Minimum 1+ years of engineering experience related to Land Development Projects (Residential experience preferred)
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft office platforms; experience with Arc GIS preferred
  • Willingness to learn and expand responsibilities
