Responsibilities
- Under the direction of experienced technical staff, learn design analysis skills for a variety of civil engineering design projects for local or state clients.
- Work on projects that may include urban or rural roadway design, structural design, inspection, drainage design, and surveying.
- Assist engineers with project design and drawing, such as developing construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications using design tools like AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Assist with field work or construction-related services, including construction observation, shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, and field inspections as needed.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate student in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program, with completion of at least one year of coursework.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to learn PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to learn AutoCAD or Microstation design software packages; direct experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow.
- Availability to work full-time during the specified semester.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record; some travel may be required.
Schedule
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work are the responsibility of the co-op; parking is provided.
