About the role
Our client is a well-established infrastructure engineering, program management, and construction consulting organization headquartered in Chicago, working across aviation and airport systems, transportation infrastructure, water resources, and energy/technology markets nationwide. This role calls for a state-licensed engineer with deep consulting-side experience in drainage design, stormwater management, site-civil work, and underground utility infrastructure, along with the seniority to help set internal design standards, oversee peer review of junior staff, and apply a professional stamp to final plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop project budgets and cost estimates for assigned civil/drainage work
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact with clients on project efforts
- Oversee project execution to keep scope, budget, and schedule on track from kickoff through closeout
- Confirm that safety considerations are addressed in line with current code requirements
- Prepare various client-facing reports and deliverables
- Take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of work produced by you and your team
- Support broader design and construction management efforts as projects require
Requirements
- Background performing engineering calculations and technical analysis on civil/drainage assignments
- Ability to translate core engineering data into clear, workable design procedures
- Experience developing schematics and plans for new construction or renovation work
- Comfortable coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines within a team setting
- Skilled at writing specifications and applying current building codes and industry standards
- 15-20 years of relevant consulting-side engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Strong grasp of drainage, stormwater, and underground utility design standards
- Strong leadership, analytical, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD; solid Microsoft Office skills required
Qualifications
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design and project management software is a plus
Pay
Up to $150,000 per year, based on experience.
