Civil Engineer

About the role

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their Planning & Development team located in Wheaton, IL. This position provides the opportunity to contribute to the larger mission through applying civil engineering practices to the planning, design and construction of the district's public works engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering plans, design, calculations, research and permits necessary for implementation of capital improvement projects.
• Assist in the evaluation and inspection of the work of contractors to ensure compliance.
• Wear various PPE including safety boots, glasses and vests while working at construction sites.
• Based out of the Wheaton Headquarters office, this role requires driving District vehicles to construction sites.
• Work Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois, or the ability to obtain licensure within one year.
• 3 years experience with CAD Civil 3D.
• Full cycle civil design experience.
• Construction site experience including interaction with contractors onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with contractors on construction sites.
• Full cycle civil design experience.
• Preparation of engineering plans, design, calculations, research and permits.
• Inspection and evaluation of contractor work.
• Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to drive District vehicles to construction sites.
• Office-based work with occasional travel to construction sites.

Pay

$90,334.00 to $101,712.00 per year, depending on experience.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
