About Ambitus
Ambitus is an applied AI product and research company that partners with domain experts and enterprises to advance frontier AI capabilities.
About the role
We are working to build the future of AI by pushing the boundaries of what frontier models can achieve. This role focuses on converting complex buildings’ 2D architectural and structural drawings into accurate 3D IFC models, and judging whether AI-generated models correctly represent the drawings. We’re looking for practicing civil and structural engineers with hands-on building modeling experience who can provide and/or generate suitable drawing sets they are authorized to share and use for this project.
Responsibilities
- Interpret structural plans, framing details, foundations, and associated architectural drawings to create coordinated 3D building models.
- Produce IFC files that accurately represent the building elements and relationships documented in the drawings.
- Review AI-generated models and reference models, flag errors or omissions, and document assumptions where drawings are incomplete or conflicting.
- Develop clear reference deliverables and review criteria that reflect professional engineering practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, with current work on building projects and hands-on BIM modeling.
Required Skills
- Experience interpreting architectural and structural drawings for complex buildings.
- Proficiency with BIM authoring tools and producing and checking IFC files.
- Strong understanding of structural systems and their coordination with architectural layouts.
- Attention to detail and clear written English for explaining modeling decisions and technical feedback.
