About the role

Turner Industries Group is seeking experienced Form Carpenters for positions in Texas City, TX.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or structural plans to determine material requirements and dimensions.
• Select specified types of lumber or other materials; prepare layouts including lines and grades.
• Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials; shape materials to prescribed measurements.
• Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together; erect framework for structures and lay sub-flooring.
• Build stairs, lay out and install partitions and cabinet work.
• Cover sub-floor with building paper and install hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors.
• Fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware.
• Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete; erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at various levels.
• Fabricate materials, transport them to the job site, and install per drawings, sketches, or plans.
• Place and finish concrete in formwork; set and align form panels; set grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.

Requirements

• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in form carpentry (depending on mechanic level).
• Must have NCCER certification or be able to pass a craft test; previous experience working with concrete is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a background check and health screening.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Hazard Communication orientation/test.
• Compliance with job site safety requirements (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots).
• Use of safety equipment as required by the client (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard).

Tools/Equipment

Employee may be required to provide the following:

• Tool box, claw hammer, hand saw, framing square, level, tri square, torpedo level, measuring tape, nail pouch, plumb bob, gloves, nail bar, chalk box, tie wire pliers, hack-saw, pliers or vise grips, screw drivers, wood chisels, folding ruler or tape, crescent wrench, scaffold socket wrench, and combination wrench.
• Rain suit.

Physical Demands

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, and structures above and below ground level.
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures.
• Reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials.
• Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
• Carrying objects, tools, and equipment.
• Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling.
• Seeing and hearing with or without correction.

• Knowledge of federal, state, and company standards and regulations.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret written plans and blueprints.

Work Environment

• Location: Industrial maintenance and construction sites.
• Mobility Barriers: Uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; confined areas.
• Climatic/Environmental Conditions: Predominately outdoor climate; exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels from tools, machinery, and equipment; potential exposure to chemical substances.

Schedule

Current schedule is 5-10s (5 days on, 10 days off) with potential for additional hours in the fall.
