Civil and Water Resources Engineer

About the role

This entry-level Civil and Water Resources Engineer position is within Trihydro’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources Business Unit. You will assist in developing solutions for municipalities, state agencies, conservation and irrigation districts, and private clients, focusing on civil infrastructure and water resource needs and improvements. Working in multidisciplinary teams, you will help improve infrastructure systems such as water supply, sanitary sewer, transportation, and stormwater systems, while supporting the assessment and development of water resources to meet agricultural, municipal, industrial, and environmental demands. This full-time role requires approximately 40–45 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical research and design calculations.
• Learn design and modeling software, draft figures, and prepare construction plan sets.
• Complete assigned design tasks, quantity calculations, and construction cost estimates.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Research construction materials and coordinate with suppliers.
• Prepare technical memorandums, design reports, and permitting applications.
• Develop cost estimates.
• Conduct field data collection, perform site inspections and inventories, and provide construction observation, monitoring, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate or new to civil engineering with minimal to no design experience, seeking to build technical foundations.
• Experience or interest in civil infrastructure, water and wastewater systems, transportation, and water resources.
• Appreciation for a collaborative work environment that prioritizes mentoring and career growth.
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T. or F.E.) certification or plans to obtain it within six months.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D or related CADD programs (not required but beneficial).
• Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SewerGems, GIS, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is preferred but not required.
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in deliverables.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and other Trihydro offices.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
