City-Wide Paraeducator, currently at Ivy Drive (Breakthrough)

About the role

The position is located at Ivy Drive School within the Paraeducator Department. Reports to the Special Education Teacher.

Responsibilities

• Aid in small group and individual pupil instruction under the guidance of the special education teacher.
• Maintain classroom discipline and assist in instructional activities.
• Escort students between rooms and during breaks and lunchtime.
• Assist with toileting students as needed.
• Supervise students during recess and lunchtime.
• Aid in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Prepare and file necessary paperwork.
• Alert teachers to any issues observed.
• May assist with toileting students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years of college credit or an Associate's degree.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment covering content knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing, and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics.

Physical Demands

• Sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
• Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Work Environment

• The work environment is typically a classroom setting with school-aged children.
• The employee will work throughout the school building, on school grounds, and occasionally off-campus.
• The paraprofessional is responsible for the safety and well-being of students in their charge.

Pay and Schedule

Salary is per contractual agreement. Work hours are 6.5 hours per day (8:35 AM to 3:35 PM). The 2025-26 school year is the date of service.
