City Attorney
About the role
The City Attorney is appointed by the Council and advises City Council on various municipal legal matters, working closely with the City Manager, Administration, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Advise City Council on municipal legal matters
- Work closely with the City Manager and Administration
- Collaborate with other stakeholders on a variety of issues
- Play a vital role in the City's short-term and long-term priorities
Requirements
- Experience working in a municipal setting or relevant experience in the private or non-profit sectors
- Past exposure to land use, development, public education, economic development, transportation matters, utilities, and/or power companies
- Practical experience in litigation
- Experience practicing law in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter/letter of interest, resume, along with salary expectations and professional references to the Franklin City Clerk. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by July 31, 2026.
