Children's Trauma Therapist

About the Role

The Children’s Trauma Therapist provides professional therapy services for DVIS clients, including intakes, individual sessions, family sessions, group sessions, psycho-education, advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Equity and Inclusion:
  • Reflect on how identities and power dynamics impact workplace advantages and disadvantages.
  • Create an inclusive environment where clients and employees feel respected, valued, and safe.
• Client Services:
  • Conduct intakes, individual therapy, family therapy, and group sessions with children and caregivers.
  • Provide clinically sound, trauma-informed interventions tailored to each client/family.
  • Develop safety plans for every client/family.
  • Utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment models.
  • Assist with crisis intervention as needed.
• Documentation:
  • Complete intake assessments, treatment plans, case notes, and other documentation within required timeframes.
  • Prepare court reports and client letters as needed.
• Collaboration:
  • Provide consultation to professionals regarding domestic and sexual violence.
  • Coordinate internally and externally to support clients.
• Perform other duties to support departmental and organizational goals.
• Maintain confidentiality and act as a steward of DVIS’s resources.
• Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree required.
• License: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or under supervision for licensure. If unlicensed, must be eligible for supervision upon hire.
• Experience:
  • Minimum one year of supervised therapy experience with adults and/or children (may include graduate experience).
  • Experience with nonprofits and trauma strongly preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe, and electronic health records systems.
• Commitment to disrupting domestic violence with a holistic, equity-focused approach.
• Organized, collaborative, and clinically skilled with strong community investment.
• Knowledge of social justice issues, including intimate partner violence, gender-based violence, and racial/class/gender/sexual orientation equity.
• Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion with excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong emotional intelligence, resiliency, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information.
• Experience applying equitable analysis to duties and confronting discrimination preferred.
