Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, energetic, community-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a full-time Children’s Services Librarian at the Ashburn Library in Ashburn, VA. As a member of an enthusiastic team, Children’s Services Librarians:

• Provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions.
• Aid customers in the use of library resources and technologies.
• Work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
• Plan and lead programs for Children.
• Conduct outreach and create partnerships with community organizations.
• This position may supervise part-time intermittent staff as assigned.

Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. All staff work in a collaborative environment to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.

LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school and six (6) months of related library experience. Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year prior experience providing direct customer service to the public strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred. LCPL provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test.
