Richmond County Government, NC is seeking a Child Welfare Social Work Program Manager for the Department of Social Services.
About the Role
Position involves program management and supervisory responsibilities for Children’s Services programs in the Richmond County Department of Social Services. This position will supervise four Children’s Services Social Work Supervisor III positions and Intake Staff. Responsibilities include staff training, resolving problems, inter-agency coordination, intra-agency planning, fiscal issues in Children’s Services, and ensuring that quality services are provided.
Responsibilities

- Provide staff training and resolve operational problems
- Coordinate inter-agency and intra-agency planning
- Manage fiscal issues related to Children’s Services
- Ensure delivery of quality services
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Occasional after-hours work and on-call supervision
Qualifications
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
- Master’s degree in a counseling field and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
- Graduation from a four-year college or university and six years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in techniques of casework, group work, or community organization, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of social work in children’s services in a county department of social services
- Thorough knowledge of management principles, techniques, and practices
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions
