About the role

The Child Services Assistant works both hands-on with children and administratively in an office setting. The main function is to schedule, conduct, and score developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5 years old.

Responsibilities

• Call prospective families, daycare centers, and children’s groups to schedule developmental screenings.
• Follow the provided screener tool to evaluate hearing, speech, motor skills, and cognitive areas.
• Share screening results with parents in a professional manner.
• Provide parents with information on developmentally appropriate activities, services, and child development.
• Travel throughout the assigned area to conduct meetings and screenings.
• Perform office duties including answering telephones, scheduling appointments using Microsoft Outlook, tracking screenings in a database or Excel file, creating reports, and typing letters.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience working with children (paid or unpaid, such as summer camps, church nursery, babysitting, daycare, volunteering, etc.).
• Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to provide acceptable state clearances.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel for business with a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement available).

Qualifications

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. No weekends, evenings, or holidays.
