About the role

This is more than a job-it’s an opportunity to serve as a positive role-model to the women and women with children within our program, provide encouragement during different moments, and help individuals build the skills and confidence needed for long-term recovery!

Responsibilities

• Implement the care, and activities of children in residence and manage all activities of the childcare component
• Drug & Alcohol early intervention/prevention activities for the children
• Continue specialized training as designated by the Supervisor
• Provide individual and group counseling for the children/mothers; monitor emotional/psychological status of children and arrange/recommend referrals to ancillary clinical services when indicated
• Assist in conducting mother-child and family therapeutic sessions in conjunction with other clinical staff
• Maintain clinical records and correspondence concerning the children and ensure compliance with all confidentiality procedures of the Child Care component
• Maintain contact with outside agencies and consulting/information resources as necessary for the continuing development and improvement of the Child Care component
• Provide training and guidance to adult residents in childcare and parenting skills; observe parent/child interactions in daily settings and advise on recommended adjustments
• Monitor educational progress of the children and maintain contact with school; arrange tutoring when necessary; maintain dialogue with mothers concerning educational needs and progress of children
• Maintain valid driver's license
• Other duties as assigned by Program Director or Recovery Support Supervisor

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of child care, prevention activities and early childhood development
• Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and procedures involved in an alcohol and drug program
• Knowledge of the drug and alcohol abusing subculture
• Knowledge of the physical and emotional characteristics and manifestations of alcohol and drug dependency
• Knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with them
• Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to specific problems
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, and other members of staff, outside agencies and institutions, and the general public

Pay

$15.83 per hour

Schedule

Monday - Friday - flexible to work rotating 8:00am - 4:00pm and 12:00pm - 8:00pm. Weekends if needed to assist with a scheduled outing for the women and children.
