About the role

Responsibilities
- Implement the care, and activities of children in residence and manage all activities of the childcare component
- Drug & Alcohol early intervention/prevention activities for the children
- Continue specialized training as designated by the Supervisor
- Provide individual and group counseling for the children/mothers; monitor emotional/psychological status of children and arrange/recommend referrals to ancillary clinical services when indicated
- Assist in conducting mother-child and family therapeutic sessions in conjunction with other clinical staff
- Maintain clinical records and correspondence concerning the children and ensure compliance with all confidentiality procedures of the Child Care component
- Maintain contact with outside agencies and consulting/information resources as necessary for the continuing development and improvement of the Child Care component
- Provide training and guidance to adult residents in childcare and parenting skills; observe parent/child interactions in daily settings and advise on recommended adjustments
- Monitor educational progress of the children and maintain contact with school; arrange tutoring when necessary; maintain dialogue with mothers concerning educational needs and progress of children
- Maintain valid driver's license
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director or Recovery Support Supervisor
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of child care, prevention activities and early childhood development
- Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and procedures involved in an alcohol and drug program
- Knowledge of the drug and alcohol abusing subculture
- Knowledge of the physical and emotional characteristics and manifestations of alcohol and drug dependency
- Knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with them
- Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to specific problems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, and other members of staff, outside agencies and institutions, and the general public

Pay
$15.83 per hour
Schedule
Monday - Friday - flexible to work rotating 8:00am - 4:00pm and 12:00pm - 8:00pm. Weekends if needed to assist with a scheduled outing for the women and children.
