About the role

The Child Care Assistant position at the Coast Guard Exchange in Kodiak, Alaska, involves planning and executing educational experiences for children to promote their overall development. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
• Assist in providing and leading planned activities for program participants
• Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques
• Maintain program participation data and complete required daily reports
• Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials
• Monitor children in various settings and ensure their safety and well-being
• Perform routine care giving tasks and interact with children and parents
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• One year of general experience working with children in a group setting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and perform physical tasks
• Pass a Tier 1 background investigation and Civilian Medical Clearance Examination
