FT Childcare Assistant

Full-Time Essential Functions Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety proceduresAssists in the client's orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structureSubmits a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA's careBuilds a safe, comfortable and caring group atmosphere where client children learn to express feelings, to discuss drug abuse/prevention and family relationships by participating in age appropriate activitiesShares the evening meal with clients and other staff membersMeets with children and/or mothers individually to provide basic information, make simple suggestions and assist with referrals as necessaryGathers and arranges resources, materials, toys and other items needed for group activitiesCoordinates volunteer coverage for the children's program as necessaryImplements and follows approved activity and lesson plansDisciplines and guides children as necessaryAllows parents to add input on the programEstablishes and maintains good communication/relationships with parents on a daily basisInforms fellow staff members of program goals and developments that relate to the children and parentsJob may require the employee to be able to regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business locations throughout the day including early morning or evening hours Education And Experience Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); however, a Bachelor's degree in social work, education, child development, counseling or other closely related field is preferredRequires at least one year of related experience in day care or early childhood educationRequires a detailed understanding of the treatment model utilizedRequires CPR, First Aid and annual TB testing with a negative test resultMust possess a valid state Driver's License, in force automobile liability insurance, and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organization's insurability standard as defined by DCCCA policy. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position EOE
