CHIEF PSYCHIATRIST, CORRECTIONAL AND REHAB SERVICES (SAFETY)

Job Summary

The position is for a Chief Psychiatrist at Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, Fresno County. Recruitment and Retention Bonus may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops, oversees, and directs the quality and operations of Physician Services within psychiatry for the psychiatric treatment of individuals housed at Pleasant Valley State Prison.
• Works under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer and with close consultation of the Statewide Chief Psychiatrist.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Psychiatry or a related field.
• Board certification in Psychiatry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a correctional or forensic setting.
• Experience in developing and implementing psychiatric treatment plans.
• Knowledge of mental health issues and treatment options relevant to the prison population.
• Ability to communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and other healthcare professionals.

• Pay Differential for employees providing direct patient care, treating patients in-person, on grounds, or at a facility more than 50% of the pay period.
• $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend for employees meeting eligibility criteria.
• $5,000 monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year with CCHCS (totaling $5,000).

Pay and Schedule

• Base Salary range: $34,420 - $35,280.
• This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent.
