CHIEF PSYCHIATRIST, CORRECTIONAL AND REHAB SERVICES (SAFETY)
Job Description and Duties
Effective July 31, 2025, under the general direction of the Assistant Deputy Director, Program Strategy & Development, the Chief Psychiatrist provides statewide clinical and administrative leadership and support to medical student rotations and psychiatric residency and fellowship training programs.
- Develops and oversees a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner student training plan.
- Collaborates and develops recruitment and training opportunities for Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) statewide.
Statewide Travel
Statewide travel up to 20% is required for this position.
Pay and Benefits
The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $34,420, Range P or $35,280, Range Q.
Additionally, individuals may be eligible to receive a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS (totaling $5,000), should they meet the eligibility criteria.
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus should you be selected for hire, and remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days.
Note: A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time.
