CHIEF PSYCHIATRIST, CORRECTIONAL AND REHAB SERVICES (SAFETY)

Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer and with close consultation of the Statewide Chief Psychiatrist, the Chief Psychiatrist:
- Develops, oversees, and directs the quality and operations of Physician Services within psychiatry for the psychiatric treatment of individuals housed at Pleasant Valley State Prison.
Pay
This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $34,420 - $35,280 annually.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces the base salary of full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16 by 4.62% and provides 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.
Effective July 1, 2023, employees in this class who provide direct in-person patient care on grounds or at a facility more than 50% of the pay period receive a 15% pay differential of their monthly base pay.
Eligible employees may receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment, as well as a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year (totaling $5,000). CDCR and CCHCS employees may also be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if their referral is hired and remains employed for 90 days.
