About the Role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) serves as a key member of the Division Executive Leadership Team, overseeing operational performance, strategic execution, and day-to-day management of the Division. Partnering closely with the Division CEO, the COO ensures successful execution of clinical and business operations while driving sustainable growth, operational excellence, physician engagement, and exceptional patient experiences. This leader acts as the primary operational liaison between the FOI Tampa Division and OSM's corporate executive team, aligning divisional initiatives with enterprise objectives, operational standards, financial goals, and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the Division CEO to develop and execute the Division's strategic, operational, and growth objectives.
- Translate enterprise priorities into actionable operational plans supporting divisional performance and market growth.
- Collaborate with OSM executive leadership to align divisional initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, and operational opportunities to drive long-term success.
- Lead strategic initiatives enhancing operational effectiveness, patient access, physician satisfaction, and market position.
- Operational Excellence
- Oversee all divisional operations to ensure efficient, high-quality, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Establish, monitor, and drive key operational performance indicators across clinics, service lines, and support functions.
- Ensure operational consistency and adherence to organizational standards while addressing local market needs.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, quality outcomes, patient experience, and operational efficiencies.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and accountability throughout the Division.
- Ensure operational readiness to support growth, integration, and evolving business needs.
- Financial Performance & Management
- Partner with the Division CEO and Finance leadership to achieve budget, revenue, profitability, and operational performance goals.
- Monitor financial and operational performance metrics and develop action plans to address opportunities and challenges.
- Lead divisional budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and resource allocation efforts.
- Drive accountability for achieving key performance indicators across operational leaders and departments.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, margin enhancement, and improved operational effectiveness.
- Physician & Provider Partnerships
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, provider leaders, and practice administrators.
- Foster physician engagement and alignment with divisional and organizational objectives.
- Support physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
- Partner with clinical leadership to advance quality, service excellence, and patient care initiatives.
- Promote open communication and collaboration between physicians, operational leaders, and corporate stakeholders.
- Growth & Integration
- Lead operational integration efforts to ensure seamless transitions and adoption of organizational best practices.
- Partner with Division and OSM leadership to assess expansion opportunities and operational readiness.
- Drive standardization efforts while preserving physician engagement and local market strengths.
- Support growth strategies designed to enhance market presence and organizational performance.
- Leadership & Culture
- Build, develop, and mentor high-performing operational leaders and teams across the Division.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Division CEO.
- Promote organizational values and support a positive, high-performance work environment.
- Lead change management efforts and organizational transformation initiatives as needed.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with physician leaders, clinical executives, and operational teams to align business and clinical objectives.
- Collaborate closely with corporate support functions to ensure operational success and execution of strategic priorities.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination across clinics, providers, divisional leadership, and OSM stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and key community stakeholders as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience, including significant executive-level responsibility.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-site physician practices, ambulatory care organizations, healthcare service organizations, or MSO-supported healthcare enterprises.
- Experience working closely with physicians, executive leadership teams, and corporate support organizations.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence, growth, financial performance, and organizational transformation.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively in a matrixed healthcare environment.
