About the Role

Reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer and serves as part of the senior executive group. Assists in the development of and is responsible for carrying out goals, objectives, plans, and policies for all areas of responsibility. Ensures Hospital services are delivered in accordance with quality and financial standards. Provides administrative oversight and direction at McLaren Bay West and West Branch facilities, as well as clinical and support services functions such as Clinical Engineering, Facilities/Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Nutritional Services, Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory at the main campus.

Responsibilities

Support the organization’s total quality management culture and values, as demonstrated through decision-making, process improvements, and interactions with others.
Direct the formulation and implementation of hospital policies and objectives for areas of responsibility.
Assist department managers and directors in developing long and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and budgets; secure approval and monitor adherence.
Assist department managers and directors in resolving administrative problems including staffing, equipment and supply acquisition, and facilities planning.
Work closely with physicians to address problems, identify improvement opportunities, and adjust programs and services to meet customer needs.
Conduct strategic planning activities for each of the service lines and facilitate implementation.
Recommend purchases of major operational and capital items within areas of responsibility.
Conduct or direct studies for determination-of-need and cost-benefit analyses for proposed new programs, equipment, and services.
Review records and reports concerning division operations; assess goal attainment and initiate corrective action when necessary.
Ensure assigned functions comply with applicable state and federal regulations and accrediting agency rules; initiate corrective action when necessary.
Interview, hire, train, direct, evaluate, and discipline department managers and directors; assist with difficult employee relations problems.
Serve as a resource/consultant to other senior management personnel on divisional and hospital-wide problems.
Participate in the development of hospital-wide plans, goals, and objectives as a member of the administrative management group.
Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through literature and professional development.
Ensure the Hospital’s financial, public relations, employee relations, and legal positions are sound; resolve important problems in these areas.
Conduct physician manpower analysis to ensure appropriate sub-specialty representation in primary and secondary services areas.
Incorporate and demonstrate the McLaren Health Care and McLaren Bay Region Vision, Mission, and Values.
Perform other duties as required or requested.

Qualifications

Required: Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or related field. Proven experience as a capable leader in increasingly responsible hospital positions.

Preferred: Eight or more years of management experience in hospital administration.
