About the role
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) plays a crucial leadership role for the interdisciplinary care teams to achieve the mission of enabling seniors to live independent lives in their communities. This position oversees clinical operations, ensures high-quality care, and collaborates with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the accountable Chief clinical executive for the assigned region, ensuring high quality and health outcomes.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Program (QAPI).
- Maintain clinical utilization trends and guide teams to create appropriate intervention strategies.
- Develop a provider after-hours strategy and approach for on-call arrangements, considering participant and provider satisfaction.
- Provide consultation and support for Medical Directors regarding grievances, appeals, and IDT decision-making processes.
- Monitor and digest current literature and best practices to recommend changes to clinical pathways, policies, and processes.
- Promote professional development of PACE primary care staff through regular meetings, one-on-one sessions, and other strategies.
- Participate on the Quality Committee and other committees or workgroups as needed.
- Build a best-in-class culture of engaged care teams, focusing on what matters most to the patient and enabling them to reach their care goals.
- Partner with local and national operating leaders to implement the care model, prioritize required capabilities, and evolve those capabilities over time.
- Oversee the work of IDT and other clinical leaders to ensure evidence-based, high-quality, cost-effective care is provided to PACE program participants.
- Directly provide medical care to PACE participants, including evaluations, diagnoses, documentation, and management of medical conditions.
- Manage a patient panel during new market transitions and staff transitions as the interim Medical Director.
- Engage with major health system partners, medical network partners, community-based organizations, and corporate sponsors to promote effective working relationships that reinforce the care model.
- Lead community outreach, marketing, and activities to promote membership growth and referrals.
Requirements
- MD or DO required; active board certification in geriatrics, complex care, home-based care, palliative care, internal medicine, or other related clinical area.
- Previous experience in a PACE model or similar capitated, value-based care, or integrated care environment.
- At least ten years of practice of medicine, with a minimum of five years working with elderly or frail populations.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in the appropriate state(s) assigned.
- Active DEA certificate with continued licensure throughout employment.
- Up-to-date immunizations records.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) preferred.

Pay
$360,000 - $420,000 base salary, plus bonus opportunity.
Schedule
Mostly Onsite: Location; Ability to be 100% physically present in the assigned markets at the care centers, in the community, or in participants' homes on an as needed basis.
