Chief Engineer- Rockport Inn & Suites, Rockport, MA

About the role

The Chief Engineer will support the daily operation of Rockport Inn and Suites, a charming hotel located in Rockport, MA. With the growth of the team and client base, there’s a need for a skilled, hands-on engineering leader who can work across the property and support the existing team.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with teams and vendors, supporting their work and ensuring a consistent and high-quality engineering operation.
• Work hands-on with a mechanical and systems skill set in all trades, including HVAC, outside cooling towers, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Move comfortably between properties, prioritize workload, and stay organized by making a list of daily tasks and prioritizing the least number of OOO rooms to allow for sell-out at each hotel.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully, enjoy working with a variety of people, and coach others.
• Be a self-starter with a strong sense of integrity, responsibility, and follow-through.
• Use Quore and prioritize daily tasks between hotels and support in-hotel efforts to improve daily operations and ensure guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• Experience as a Chief Engineer or similar senior engineering role, preferably in hospitality or a comparable setting.
• Strong hands-on technical skills, including experience with HVAC, outside cooling towers, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical and other building systems.
• Comfortable moving (and driving) between properties, prioritizing workload, and staying organized.
• A clear, respectful communicator who enjoys working with a variety of people and coaching others.
• A self-starter with a strong sense of integrity, responsibility, and follow-through.

Qualifications

• Flexibility in scheduling to meet the demands of a 24/7, 365 operation.
• The ability to take and respond to "after hours" calls as they arise.

Skills

This is not a Monday through Friday 9am-5pm position. Flexibility in scheduling is key.
