About the role
The Chief Engineer oversees the maintenance of the building, both inside and out. Key responsibilities include HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical engineering, ensuring compliance with current codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides office and building engineering support
- Ensures technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria
- Supervises all building repairs done by outside vendors
- Maintains an operating environment to achieve a satisfactory level of resident service

- Responds to phone calls and correspondence in a timely, professional manner
- Motivates staff to work as a team
- Creates a maintenance report depicting an update on the actual condition of the property, progress of specific projects, and makes clear and concise recommendations
Requirements
- High School Degree; preferred AA degree in industry
- Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance employee in a supervisory role in high-rise buildings
- Must be HVAC certified and/or have a comparable technical school certification
- Strong working knowledge of basic trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical aspects, pumps, and motors, mechanical systems with a similar degree of complexity
- Proficient and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Available to respond to emergencies and occasional night and weekend work
