About the role
The Chief Engineer oversees the maintenance of both the interior and exterior of the building. Key responsibilities include HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical engineering, as well as providing technical support and ensuring compliance with all current codes and criteria.
Responsibilities
- Provides office and building engineering support
- Ensures technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria
- Supervises all building repairs done by outside vendors
- Maintains an operating environment to achieve a satisfactory level of resident service
- Maintains an operating environment to achieve a satisfactory level of resident service as measured by formal and informal feedback and surveys
- Monitors all systems of the building and performs any and all basic repairs as needed
- Creates a maintenance report depicting an update on the actual condition of the property, progress of specific projects, and makes clear and concise recommendations
- Keeps up to date equipment maintenance logs, inventory, and updates preventative maintenance manual quarterly
- Interviews, trains, develops staff, and schedules
Requirements
- High School Degree; preferred AA degree in industry
- Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance employee in a supervisory role in high-rise buildings
- Must be HVAC certified and/or have a comparable technical school certification
- Strong working knowledge of basic trades, such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting standard principles and practices
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical aspects, pumps, and motors, mechanical systems with a similar degree of complexity
- Proficient and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Available to respond to emergencies and occasional night and weekend work due to special projects
