Chief Engineer

About the Role

Develop, implement, and manage programs for the operation and maintenance of all equipment and physical structures in compliance with resort, local, state, and national codes and regulations. This role ensures the protection of assets, guests, members, and team members while optimizing operations, minimizing expenses, and maximizing guest and member satisfaction. Responsible for short- and long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, including budgeting, capital expenditure planning, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the human resources in the division to attract, retain, and motivate staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel; conduct performance and salary reviews; resolve problems; and provide open communication.
• Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the department's budget and capital expenditure plan, forecasts, and objectives consistent with maintaining a first-class property and leadership's expectations.
• Develop, implement, and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the resort and all equipment in compliance with applicable codes and regulations to ensure safety, satisfaction, and asset protection.
• Develop, implement, and manage energy conservation programs to minimize expenses.
• Coordinate renovation bidding, define project costs and scope, and oversee general contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality work at minimal cost.
• Participate in all leadership meetings and functions, including the Manager on Duty (MOD) Program.
• Submit reports and memos to appropriate parties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• CPR Certification.

Physical Demands

• Occasional: Sitting, lifting/carrying 51 to 70 lbs., manual dexterity, fine motor skills, eye/hand coordination, near vision, far vision, color recognition, hearing.
• Frequently: Standing, walking, bending over, reaching, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying 10 lbs. or less, 11 to 25 lbs., and 26 to 50 lbs., gross motor skills.
• Environmental Factors: Working inside and outside (possibly in inclement weather), working closely with others, exposure to excessive cold/heat, humidity/dampness, noise/vibrations, fumes/smoke/gas, uneven surfaces, operating motorized equipment or vehicles, working around machinery, climbing on scaffolds or ladders, and continuous computer/keyboard use.
