Chief Engineer
About the role
The Department of General Services (DGS) seeks a Chief Engineer I to lead and provide skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and mechanical controls within the State Building and occupied buildings.
Responsibilities

Leads staff in the operation, maintenance, and building repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical controls.

Prioritizes and assigns staff to respond or respond directly to service requests and/or emergency calls submitted by tenants.

Maintains records of evacuated refrigerants using Excel.

Maintains, services, repairs, and/or disposes of state equipment that contains refrigerant.

Acts as backup in the absence of the Chief Engineer II at any regional facility.
Requirements

Two years of experience within the last fifteen years in the maintenance and operation of a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system and related equipment in a large commercial, industrial, or governmental building or institution, including one year of experience in supervising such a system.
